Indisputable fact: when I read my Bible first thing in the morning, I drowse off. I don't even read my Bible every day. What I usually do is figure out a reasonable portion of the Bible (a couple of books or whatever) each month, and then read in larger chunks as I have time and concentration. My prayer times are usually in the evening, then. I used to feel guilty a lot too, and then what I realized is that I think what God wants is our closeness and our love... and that's not about a 15-30 min quiet time. That's about our whole lives.
