My friend, Kim from Canada, of The Executive Housewife, recently posted a great imaginary discussion she picked up at a homeschool conference. It turns all those socialization questions people ask on their heads and offers a totally fresh (though tongue in cheek) perspective on how children get to know life in the real world. Click on over and think outside the box.

That was so funny (and so true!) Thanks for sharing!

Actually, it wasn’t so tongue-in-cheek – it hit upon the truth quite a bit. When I had my kids in public school, homeschooling moms would in fact frequently ask me if I were worried about “how my kids are being socialized.” Granted, this was in Japan, so I think they were more worried about language/cultural influences, but believe me, in a community of homeschooling families, the public schooled-child is very much the “odd man out.”
