Dear Mrs. P, I hope you don't mind, I linked to this post in my own birth story that I wrote out today. I too had a long labor and spiritual journey, and I kept thinking of the verse you posted. If you'd like to read my birth story, it is posted here:

You did fabulously. I remember the guilt and disappointment I felt after my progress stopped. They wanted to start me on pitocin but I said I'm not having any unless the baby is in actual danger, and she wasn't. We went home for a couple of hours and I cried all the way because I felt so guilty. My husband was tremendously supportive. Congratulations on your precious Faith.

Congrats on this and great story!

I just gave birth to my 3rd on March 17th. My first natural birth and the little guy was posterior. Pain...oh the pain.

I wrote my birth story on my blog as well if you want to check it out sometime.

My first, seventh and ninth births were all similar to this one. First and ninth were homebirths. I was in labor just as you described for four days with our first (Thursday morning until Sunday midnight) but only 14 hours with our ninth although 7 of those hours were transition after my water had broken naturally. I have never felt closer to God than during those 7 hours of transition.

Blessings,
Kimberly

I loved your story. I've had very similar experiences (calling in the midwife too early, keeping people up all night during a "false" labor, etc.) and I know exaclty how you felt about that. What an incredible testimony it turned out to be, though. I love the name of your little girl and am so happy for you and your family.

What a wonderful story! I cannot imagine the pain and frustration of being complete and nothing happening. I'm so so happy that she came finally and was healthy!

I relate a lot to not wanting to inconvenience those around me in my births. Scared they will have to drive all the way over here and nothing happen, or take off work, etc. If I look deeper to the issue, I'm sure there is something wrong with me in that?

Anyways, so happy to hear this great testimony of God's faithfulness with Faith! :)

Love,
meg

Great story! I think your midwife's comment was perfect about how humbling labour and birth can be. Home birth sounds like a wonderful alternative to the sterile, cold hospital environment. That little girl is already blessed to have parents who recognize God's plan in their lives.

Don't be too hard on yourself! I had no expectations for \observing\ and thought you (and your husband) were amazingly calm and just regular type amazing with the whole process. Sounds like no two births are ever really the same, and Faith is her own person with her own way of coming into the world. So glad I got to be there for part of it, and so glad you and Faith are doing fabulously!
