Welcome to the world of EC! The solids take a lot longer to get the hang of (in my limited experience) just because there are so many fewer of them, it’s hard to see the pattern. Hang in there! It took me about three months to get a clue about my baby’s rhythms for solids, and I still have PLENTY of misses.

OK, I have been mulling this over for months. When I first heard of it, it was in context of other cultures and it seemed very unsanitary to put feces in the street. I still feel that way, actually. But since becoming aware that it can be done in a hygienic way, I am fascinated.

My baby is six months old and today was day three of taking him to potty. Imagine my surprise that he actually goes when I make the suggestion! I have caught most of his wets but have missed all three of his solids. I have to say that I am amazed that this doesn’t take any longer than changing a diaper.

Sounds great — I think the only downside is that it requires that the mother be with her baby all the time. I am very much a “detachment parent” — so it probably would not have worked for us!

Amazing!! I wonder if my grandchildren (someday) will do it like this. Seems so right and yet so foreign.. if you know what I mean.. I can see how it would be easier to imagine if you knew someone who has already been successful in this. Don’t be surprised if Oprah wants you on someday.. (I’m just saying)
